2016 ?!

Hey, it has been a while.. As a broadly known sentence goes, "wanna make God laugh? tell Him of your plans."

Inshalla (如蒙天佑), we plan to create a website, looking for a dedicated specialist. We also owe you a few stories about what we have done during this year: a lot of things that merit separate posts.

Meanwhile, if you read in Russian, you can get the picture checking our Facebook group. For English, press here (Facebook page, not parallel to the previous link). For Hebrew and Chinese, just wait.

See you around !

BACK TO JERUSALEM: Modern Chinese Christianity

this is not OUR statement, this is how Jerusalem speaks of itself in the eyes of many

Some political stuff

Few Israelis ever fail to encounter frictions between the Left and Right political sectors, the first promoting Palestinian independence and the second, ardently opposing it.

Probably, still fewer Russian speakers are not taking sides in the recent military conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

PRC and Tibet? PRC and ROC? PRC and Xinjiang? Falungong? The Hong Kong democratic movement?

In a sense, the Club has provided a training ground for practicing the Middle Way 中庸之道. Not that we duck the political questions: we just strive to master the ethical norms that allow us to stay friends despite the divergences in the political views.

However, we are not that dead serious. It is actually irony and humor that help to survive where other means fail.

Stay tuned :)

Intro

Jerusalem Chinese Club has been founded on January 1, 2015, as an informal group of Russian speakers interested in Chinese culture.

After nine months, we have realized that the project is ready to step out to address the local Hebrew speaking audience. It also became clear that it demands some public statement in English. Be it Sino-Judaica or Judo-Sinology, the new current of two-directional penetration of equally ancient and thriving cultures has constituted the fascinating new reality we are about to explore.

The Club is not affiliated to any academic or religious institution, and not restricted to popularization of academic scholarship, though we do our best to keep updated about the relevant developments. Staying confession-free and not politically engaged, we aspire to see the ways of the world as they can possibly be seen from the unique cultural space named Jerusalem.

To make it a WAY, and not just a TEXT, we seriously regard the practical aspects of living: art, mental and bodily cultivation, and entrepreneurship. So far, more is dreamed than done, but we are still at the very start: a circle of friends who set out to a cross-cultural journey. The journey promises to become a life-long one.

You are welcome to keep updated about its advancement. And, possibly, to participate therein.
